The General Council of A.D.E.D.Y., who met at 19 May 2021 decided , the realization 24hour of strike mobilization on Thursday 3 June 2021, in order not to pass the anti-popular and anti-labor bill of the government of New Democracy and Mr.. Hatzidaki that, including: abolishes 8 hours and collective labor agreements, criminalizes trade union action and falsifies the right to strike, abolishes the S.E.P.E.. and the Sunday holiday, increases unpaid overtime, leaves dismissals uncontrollable, etc..
New Democracy government, labor minister announce anti-labor bill, που καταργεί και σαρώνει δικαιώματα και κατακτήσεις αιώνων των εργαζομένων.
The bill submitted by the government provides, including:
The abolition of the 8 o'clock and the imposition of a week 50 working hours, through individual employment contracts. This is the biggest and most important counter-reform of the bill, which abolishes the most emblematic conquest of workers, 135 years since the Chicago strike and 101 years after the introduction of 8 o'clock in our country. The extra 2 working hours, daily, is unpaid and without prior collective agreement. They will be "returned" to the employee, when the company decides, with part-time or break or leave days. The employee, that is,, in an era of high unemployment and extortionate dilemmas, in order to maintain his job, is required to… propose to his employer his additional employment, at no extra charge. To consent, that is,, "Voluntarily" in deprivation and the minimum time he has left to rest, education and family responsibilities.
Criminalizes trade union action and further falsifies the right to strike. Beyond the known 50%+1, enacted by the previous government in 2018, for the strike, provides for electronic voting in General Assemblies, thus abolishing the right to live dialogue, in the confrontation of positions and views, in fermentation and finally in composition. It's essentially, to abolish democratic dialogue in trade unions.
Pharisaism and their hypocrisy have no limits, since on the one hand they ask for it 50%+1 for the quorum of the General Assemblies for strike and on the other hand, they legitimize the results of the pseudo-elections in education, who participated 5 – 8%!!!
They abolish the most emblematic and philanthropic law in our country for labor, τον Ν. 1264/82. In public, nouns, prohibit the strike, after for the first time, in addition to security staff, establish and "minimum guaranteed work" staff in percentage 33,3%!!!
At the same time, refer to Ο.ΜΕ.Δ. the strikes and until the mediator decides, the strike is suspended!!!
These settings, along with the removal of the article 15 for the Committees for the Protection of Trade Unions and Employees from Dismissals, further diminish our labor rights. In an already denervated constitutional right, that of the strike, where the 90% of strikes are declared illegal and abusive, other obstacles are added, aimed at its further falsification, if not its abolition.
They abolish the Sunday holiday in 31 industries and companies, reduce overtime pay (if and when they are paid) and release redundancies, since the employer is no longer obliged to re-employ the employee, if acquitted in court. Abolishing the Sunday holiday only benefits employers and deprives employees of the only day off.
At the same time, employers have no legal obligation to increase jobs, which will be further reduced due to increased overtime and 10 hours.
A business with 100 employees and with 10 hours of work per day
(100 x 10 = 1.000 hours) has a benefit 25 wages, in relation to the 8-hour work (100 x 8 = 800) 1.000 – 800 = 200, 200 : 8 = 25!!!
They essentially dissolve the APR removing it from the responsibility of the Ministry of Labor by transforming it into a "supposedly" independent authority, abdicating political responsibility for compliance with labor law.
It is obvious from the above that the anti-labor and anti-popular bill of the Mitsotakis government is cut and sewn to the measures of SEV and the employers.
Nouns, legitimizes the jungle of labor relations that has existed in the private sector for years with 10 hours, the 14-hour and 4-hour working hours, with the sole purpose of generating additional profits for businesses.
Thirty years after the unprecedented explosion of technology, που αντικατέστησε χιλιάδες εργατικά χέρια, instead of having reduced working hours and wage increases, we also have an increase in working hours and reductions in wages. The request of the workers in Chicago for 8 hours of work, 8 hours of rest and 8 hours of free time is again relevant.
These measures, obviously, and will not only concern the private sector. It is absolutely certain that they will be extended to the State, as it was 2010 by increasing the schedule from 37,5 hours per week in 40!!! Especially the measures that refer to the operation of the unions, to the right to strike, in free trade union action, also concern the State.
In the face of this anti-labor bill - guillotine for our rights and achievements we have the obligation to react so that it is not submitted to Parliament, not to vote even if it is still voted, to be overthrown.
Public and private sector workers gave a first resounding response to the government with their mass strike in 6 of May.
It takes a general and coordinated struggle of all employees in the public and private sector not to pass this bill.
Our struggles will not stop unless it is abolished, even if voted.
ALL AND ALL TOGETHER we give the "present" to the struggles that are coming to shout:
- Hands off from 8 o'clock and the strike
- Hands off collective bargaining
- Hands down from our conquests
THE ANTI-WORK BILL WILL NOT PASS!
EVERYONE IS ON STRIKE!
