DECLARATION OF THE ASSOCIATION CLASS UNIT OF WORKERS FOR THE ELECTIONS OF THE ASSOCIATION OF WORKERS-THREE WATERS OF SIATIST
Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 June 2021
Siatista Cultural Center from 11.00 p.m.. to 07.00 pm
The elections for the election of a new administration in our union, representatives for the Kozani Labor Center and our Federation (ΟΕΚΙΔΕ) take place at a time when we are facing a full-blown attack on our labor rights. Unemployment in the industry exceeds that 60%, the coronavirus pandemic brought the situation to a standstill, no care for uninsured fur workers, which is also the majority in production.
About a thousand colleagues with families, children, loans, studies, rents live with 534 euros of suspension. It is uncertain whether the fur factories in the area will operate with a visible risk after the end of the suspension to go to rotation work or dismissal. Shift work means 250-300 euros monthly.
At the same time, the government of ND with the bill abortion for labor abolishes the 8 o'clock, fixed working time, the Sunday holiday, imposes 10-hour work and unpaid overtime. We, the furriers, experienced all these measures in our own skin. It has been implemented by the PASOK governments for years, of ND and SYRIZA. They tried them on us and now they apply them all over Greece. They want to crush any attempt to organize the workers' struggle through the unions.
All these years the class administration of our union has been at the forefront, against large employers, to the government, to the compromised trade union leaders who spoke of a working peace, to find them with the bosses, that we are fast partners. We fought for collective bargaining agreements, so that the fur worker is not weak towards the employer. We fought and are fighting for the inclusion of the industry in the heavy and unhealthy.
We have expressed our opposition to the confiscation of our colleagues' salaries and unemployment benefits, in the seizures of the first residence of fellow furriers. We expressed our solidarity with colleagues whose electricity was cut off by PPC. We have new struggles ahead of us against the abortion bill. We fought for the success of the nationwide strike on June 10 with our participation in the rally outside the town hall of Siatista.
We invite you to participate en masse in the elections of June 12 and 13. Trust the furry class again. Nothing is given away! We continue the fight with new registrations in the club. We address colleagues who work on all fur farms, in all the dyehouses and tanneries of the area, to all workers in small and large factories.
