Now, A study published in the scientific journal Heart shows that daily bathing (no shower) in very hot water is also associated with better heart health.
The researchers analyzed what they reported on their health and lifestyle more than 30.000 middle-aged people in Japan. Participants answered a questionnaire at the beginning of the study and were then followed up for approximately 20 years.
Compared to people who did not bathe more than twice a week, people who bathed daily in very hot water had 28% lower risk of cardiovascular disease and 26% lower risk of stroke.
The study is only observational and does not prove that daily bathing in hot water prevents heart problems.
However, Previous research has shown that the effects of bathing on the body are similar to those of exercise.
Caution, however: bathing in very hot water is also associated with sudden death due to overheating, confusion or drowning!
If you are going to take a bath, keep the water temperature comfortable and do not reach hot water levels.
End, this study says nothing about the potential cardiovascular benefits of showers (no bathroom) with very hot water.
