Video gaming spaces for Nintendo users are buzzing with excitement because the latest edition Legend of Zelda game, Tears of the Kingdom, is finally set to drop later in the year. Still, with the spring release drawing ever closer, the game is mostly a mystery as Nintendo hasn’t made things easy for us given that it has disclosed very few details.
At the time of publishing this post, one first-look trailer, an E3 gameplay teaser, and two official trailers have been released to give us a glimpse into what we can expect from the much-anticipated video game. That said, doing what we do best, we’ve dug for as much information as we could about the game to give you a sneak peek before its eventual spring release. And even if you instead prefer playing X-Box, Play Station, or PC games, or you are into iGaming titles like the Gates of Olympus demo slot, the upcoming title might just be your entry into the Nintendo Switch platform.
Here’s a look into the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom based on the teaser and trailers that Nintendo has officially released so far.
The Long Wait is Almost Over
Since Nintendo released The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in 2017, fans enjoyed themselves so much that the excitement for a sequel began almost immediately. The first look trailer finally dropped back in 2019. Although it featured no significant information about the actual gameplay, we got a taste of the setting and mood for the next great adventure in Hyrule. Thus, given that video gamers have waited over five years for the sequel, anticipation levels have reached a new high.
Based on the 2019 first-look trailer, the magnificent Hyrule we all came to love back in 2017 is still present in all its glory. Besides the appearance of more advanced visuals with crisper detail, much of the artwork in the upcoming installment resembles its Breath of the Wild predecessor. Additionally, the first trailer depicts an epic reincarnation of Ganon, where the Hyrule Castle is lifted out of the sky, a similar occurrence to what happened in the Breath of the Wild edition.
What Can We Expect From the Gameplay?
After the first look 2019 trailer, Nintendo released an E3 2021 teaser in June 2021, then followed it up with the first official trailer in September 2021. From there, the second and latest official trailer has just been released this month, February 2023.
So, from the teaser and trailers, we see a rejuvenated Link returning to Hyrule with new weapons and firepower for his missions. Some of the new weaponry added to Link’s general arsenal appears to include different types of shields, bows, arrows, a wooden axe, and various swords.
The trailers also depict a series of new dungeons and threats as evil spreads throughout the land. So, the responsibility to defeat the lurking evil forces falls squarely on Link’s shoulders, which he must conquer with his new set of weaponry. Further, based on the tiny bits of information we got from the teaser and trailers, some of the most notable upgrades featured include:
- A flying contraption that allows you to soar through the skies.
- Floating parts of the Hyrule land that resemble Islands.
- A new magical arm will be given to Link that perhaps explains his flying element. This steps away from the Sheikah Slate that was used in the previous versions of the game.
- An extension of the play area to the Hyrule sky.
What is the Official Release Date?
After many delays, Nintendo finally revealed that the official release date of the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be May 12th, 2023. Until then, we will likely see more teasers and trailers to give us more information about what we should expect in the action-adventure game. This was their approach with Breath of the Wild game until its eventual March 2017 release, though it is not set in stone that this will happen.
For now, however, it is still pretty early to say whether the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom game will live up to the hype it has gathered over the last five years. Until we get a hold of more details, we will have to reserve our judgment. Nonetheless, if previous releases of this series are anything to go by, then the palpable excitement in the gaming community is quite justified.
