Issuance of an Invitation for the financing of biowaste management actions, budget 529 mm. euro, by the Special Management Service of the Operational Program Western Macedonia 2014-2020
In the context of the rational management of biowaste in the Region of Western Macedonia, the Regional Governor of Western Macedonia, Mr.. George Kasapidis signed new Invitation, total budget 528.560,32 euro, concerning funding of biowaste management actions, with beneficiaries their Municipalities of Velvento, Nestorius and Serbs and deadline for submission of proposals up to 08/01/2021.
The biowaste Management Actions will be implemented with cohesion fund co-financing (ΤΣ) and National Resources, through its relevant Assignment Operational Program “Transport Infrastructure, Environment and Sustainable Development ” 2014-2020 in Special Management Service of the Operational Program "Western Macedonia" 2014-2020.
Projects will be funded under the Call:
- Promotion of home composting, through the organization of home composting networks and on-site mechanical composting, with emphasis on households of rural and semi-rural areas and on-site mechanical composting in public green spaces or specific areas of urban areas (e.g. schools, residential complexes, hotels, camps etc.)
- Development separate collection systems for recyclable and biowaste, through the development of separate biowaste collection networks, to achieve the objectives of the article 41 of N.. 4042/2012 at national and regional level.
It is noted that in the context of 1ης bio-waste management projects were included in the 10 Municipalities (Grevena, Ten, Argos Orestikou, Of Kastoria, Voiou, Εορδαίας, Kozani, Amynteou, Prespa and Florina). This invitation provides for the inclusion of the rest 3 Municipalities, so as to achieve integrated biowaste management in its entirety 13 Municipalities of the Region.
Goal Action Plan is to increase the bio-waste recycling capacity of the Region of Western Macedonia by 11.000 tons per year, to meet the provisions of the National Waste Management Plan (ΕΣΔΑ), in the Regional Waste Management Plan (PESDA), as well as in the Local plans of the Municipalities, through the implementation of integrated solutions in waste management, significant improvement in environmental protection and quality of life and a step-by-step approach to more sustainable solid waste management.
