The protection of forests and especially the prevention of forest fires with the use of innovative tools has been, the basic aim of the program OFIDIA2 (Platform for Operational Protection of Fire Risk), which was carried out by Decentralized Administration of Epirus-Western Macedonia (ΑΔΗΔΜ) together with the University of Ioannina, the Italian partners and the valuable cooperation of the Fire Services of Epirus, στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος Ευρωπαϊκής Εδαφικής Συνεργασίας INTERREG «Ελλάδα – Ιταλία 2014-2020».

The beginning of the parallel meeting of the Greek partners was welcomed by the Coordinator of the Decentralized Administration of Epirus-Western Macedonia and. Vassilios Michelakis, who thanked all the partners for the successful completion of the project, expressed the full support of the body in the integration and expansion of new tools to the region of Western Macedonia but also to other regions of Epirus.

Ο Πύραρχος κ. George Havelas, Head of the European Projects Service of the Regional Fire Administration of Epirus, presented the historical development of the project and the valuable contribution and cooperation of P.Y.. in the design of the ground surveillance network.

Papageorgiou of the Coordination Department & Inspection of Forests of the Decentralized Administration of Epirus-Western Macedonia, referred to the supply and installation of an autonomous wireless network for the transmission of high definition optical signal in real time to the control centers of the Fire Service and the Forest Services.
