The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs describes how the two-month extension of unemployment benefits that expired or expires in January and February is paid to the beneficiaries.
As pointed out in a relevant announcement, government commitment for two-month extension of regular unemployment subsidy implemented, of the long-term unemployment benefit and the self-employment unemployment benefit for the unemployed whose subsidy has expired or is ending in January and February 2021, after the signing of the necessary Joint Ministerial Decision by the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Kostis Hatzidakis and the Deputy Minister of Finance Theodoros Skylakakis.
The two-month extension corresponds to the following amounts:
-Unemployment subsidy tactics - up to 798,5 euro (to 399,25 euros per month), increasing against 10% for each protected member.
-Self-employment unemployment benefit - up to 798,5 euro (to 399,25 euros per month).
-Long-term unemployment benefit - up to 400 euro (to 200 euros per month).
Payment will be completed automatically, by deposit in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries, without requiring any action.
Beneficiaries are only those who remain unemployed during the period corresponding to the extension and have not benefited from extensions of the same subsidy. Subsidized unemployed who started working during the extension, will receive a proportionate amount, based on their unemployment days. A new update from OAED will follow on the payment schedule.
“The decision - announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis from the floor of Parliament on 15 January 2021- is part of the additional measures of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs to support the labor market as the coronavirus pandemic continues” emphasizes the Ministry of Labor.
