The Secretary General of Vocational Education, Training, Lifelong Learning and Youth of the Ministry of Education and Religions, K. George Voutsinos, accompanied by the Director of his Office, K. Pisli Konstantina, and his partner, Diamond Kyrin, as part of his tour of Western Macedonia visited on Wednesday 9 June 2021, the P.E.. Kozani, to see closely and be informed immediately about the situation in the structures of Vocational Education (ΕΠΑ.Λ., FROM.) and Training (Δ.Ι.Ε.Κ., ΕΠΑ.Σ) of P.E.. Kozani.
The Secretary General was welcomed and accompanied during his tour by the Regional Governor of Western Macedonia, George Kasapidis and the Deputy Regional Minister of Education, Olga Putahidou.
In the meetings that took place in his band 1ου ΕΠΑ.Λ. Kozani, at the City Hall of Kozani and at the City Hall of Ptolemaida, the Regional Director of Education of Western Macedonia, Thodoris Mardiris, the Director of Secondary Education of Kozani, Despina Papadopoulou, the Directors and Directors of EPAL., FROM. and Δ.Ι.Ε.Κ. briefed the Secretary General on all matters concerning Vocational Education and Training in the wider region.
In the discussions that took place, the executives developed their views and proposals for the need to modernize Vocational Education at the level of programs., specialties and infrastructure, to meet the special needs of the region and the challenges of the time.
The Mayor of Kozani, Lazaros Maloutas, and the Mayor of Eordea, Panagiotis Plakentas, referred to the issues concerning the program of their municipalities for the building of Vocational Education.
The Regional Governor of Western Macedonia underlined the interest and importance that the Region attaches to the upgrading of Vocational Education and announced the practical support of the Region through a large financial program (analogous to that of General Education) to strengthen the logistical infrastructure of school units.
The Secretary General of Vocational Education, Training and Lifelong Learning and Youth of the Ministry of Education and Religions, K. Βούτσινος, listened carefully to the suggestions of the executives and referred to the law 4763/2020 which establishes a National System of Vocational Education and Training and especially in the provisions concerning the connection of vocational education and training with the production and the labor market and the role that will be played by the new institution of SSPAE.. (Production and Labor Market Association Council), established in each Region, to identify the local needs and to propose the sectors and specialties of vocational education and training that will operate in each Region. He also informed about the securing of significant funds from European Programs for infrastructure extensions and renovations., supply of modern laboratory equipment for schools and laboratory centers and other interventions aimed at upgrading Vocational Education.
The two-day visit of the General Secretary includes visits to the other P.E.. of Western Macedonia with a similar program.
