This amount makes Western Macedonia one of the pioneers nationwide in the fight for the greening of the economy and for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere..
The objectives of these calls are the energy upgrade of energy-intensive public buildings based on the National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency, boosting employment in the field of energy saving and improving energy efficiency in the building sector, with Public Sector buildings being an example for mobilizing the entire economy.
The intended results of the projects that will be funded under this Call, is the reduction of energy consumption of public buildings and the parallel reduction of CO2. These can be achieved through the improvement of energy efficiency and the use of RES. in public sector infrastructure, through the adoption of energy efficient systems for space cooling and heating and the production of domestic hot water, as well as through the application of energy saving technologies.
The upgrade of the buildings will concern, indicatively, in interventions in the shell of buildings (thermal insulation), in replacement of frames, in replacement of cooling - heating systems, etc.. In addition, the interventions are intended to exceed the minimum required levels of energy efficiency in energy consumption and the characteristics of buildings (e.g. building use, operation profile, systems age, total surface, energy efficiency category etc.) in order to give priority to buildings that have high energy consumption and through the upgrade of which greater energy savings are achieved.
The proposals that will be selected, will be implemented with co-financing of the European Regional Development Fund (Ε.Τ.Π.Α.) and National Resources, through the Priority Axis 4 – "Supporting the transition to a low carbon economy in all sectors", of the Operational Program of Western Macedonia, of Ε.Σ.Π.Α. 2014-2020.
