What to watch out for
Οι καταναλωτές κατά την περίοδο των εκπτώσεων θα πρέπει να δείξουν ιδιαίτερη προσοχή στα εξής σημεία:
- During the sales period in the stores there should be posted notices that sales are taking place.
- The double price listing, i.e. the original one (which is usually deleted) and the new price of the products sold at a discount is mandatory, in the visible parts of the store and definitely in the places where the products are displayed.
- Listing a discount percentage is not mandatory and it is at the discretion of the business whether to list a percentage or not. In case the company lists a percentage, it must be specified that it is a discount (e.g. "30% off").
- There should be no confusion, between discounts and offers. Discounts concern products of the season while offers, where the discount is particularly high, usually concern obsolete species.
- καταστήματα εστίασης-λιανεμπόριο-ψυχαγωγία
- In the case of offers, there should be a sign indicating that offers are being made. Products must bear the original price and the offer price (not the discount rate). Caution! Offers often state that no changes are made, so if you regret it, you do not have the ability to change.
- Pay close attention to stores that advertise high discount rates on one or a few items. This does not mean that the other types of these stores are cheaper than similar types of other stores.
- Find out about the details and terms of your transaction when you buy products in installments.
- Do not hesitate to be informed precisely about the origin and quality of the products. The seller must provide the consumer with all the information related to the product according to the article 1 of n. 2251/94 before the latter makes a purchase.
- Find out from merchants if there are any changes to the items they sell during sales. Merchants are obliged to exchange defective products purchased during the sale period, unless the product is on sale due to a specific defect and the consumer has been informed of this, before the purchase with a corresponding sign.
- You ask for proof, because this is the only way to prove the purchase in the event of a defective product.
- You are asking for the instructions for use of the product and the terms of its guarantee in the Greek language.
