The professor of microbiology of the medical school of EKPA, Athanasios Tsakris, talking to Ant1, proposes as a next measure for the treatment of coronavirus in our country the "Lockdown in local, social and professional level ". What does it say about the case of general lockdown.
As announced by the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management, Nikos Hardalias, the mask becomes mandatory from today, 1August in all enclosed spaces, while it is not excluded that new measures will follow if there is a new increase in cases.
Measures that can reach individual or sectoral lockdown as pointed out by Athanasios Tsakris. The professor of microbiology of the medical school of EKPA, he stressed:
"There is no objection that there is an increasing trend in our country as well, a phenomenon we see all over Europe. Fortunately, our continent is in a better phase, but unfortunately there is an upward trend but it is something to be expected, we were waiting for it. All this shows that we should not focus so much on closing the borders but mainly each country should take its own local measures such as the use of a mask, the right laboratory test regardless of whether the borders are open or closed ".
Asked about the growing cases in Attica and Thessaloniki and how the coronavirus will be reduced, Mr.. Tsakris mentioned:
"From now on we should have a very good picture of the geographical dispersion and the solar and local measures should be taken. We can not go to a general lockdown anymore, the economy demands it not only in Greece but also internationally. The measures should be of a local, professional or social activity and should significantly help to address and reduce the spread without affecting the economy. ".
When asked what this kind of lockdown means, the professor replied "if we see how social or professional activities affect, then we should intervene locally and take concrete actions that will prevent the spread of the epidemic ".
In terms of the attention that people should show to the reaction of younger ages, Mr.. Tsakris stressed that they were the ones who were hit hardest socially and economically and did not show the necessary attention, as a result of which they spread the coronavirus more.. Especially for young people, The professor said that they need to understand their social responsibility towards society and older adults..
Finally, regarding the "key" for the end of new measures to stop the coronavirus, he said:
"These are reviewed every two weeks depending on the data collected and we must have a very good laboratory network from now on so that we can know exactly in which areas and geographical areas the cases are located.. Let's not forget that we will enter Autumn and things will start to get more difficult, we will have other respiratory viruses and there we need the right network, the right tools that will show us exactly the spread of the epidemic ".
