EODY announced the findings regarding the new mutations of the coronavirus, according to the National Genomic Surveillance Network for SARS-CoV-2 mutations.
According to his epidemiological report, the genomic analysis was completed 200 samples relating to the period 12-27 January 2021 and come from the Entrance Gates, Attica, Thessaloniki, Halkidiki, Pieria and Patras.
In all 200 samples analyzed, 177 met the strict quality criteria required for the analysis and the final inspection was successfully completed.
From the audit they emerged as a whole 108 strains with mutations of special interest (variants of concern). From those, 107 samples were positive for the new VOC strain 202012/01 (Lineage Β.1.1.7/UK) and one sample was positive for the new strain 20H / 501Y.V2 (Lineage B.1.351/South Africa).
Specifically, the new VOC strain 202012/01 (Lineage Β.1.1.7/UK lineage) detected in:
⋅80 samples from Attica (50 from confluence to an Elderly Care Unit, 21 from the community and 9 from hospitals)
⋅14 samples from Halkidiki (all from the community)
⋅11 samples from Patras (all hospital)
⋅1 from Thessaloniki (from the community)
⋅1 from Pieria (from the community)
In everything, regarding the new strain 20H / 501Y.V2 (Lineage B.1.351/South Africa), this was detected by the community in Thessaloniki.
Overall in our country they have been identified 173 positive samples for mutant B.1.1.7 / UK lineage strain and one mutant Lineage B.1.351 / South Africa strain of SARS-CoV-2 virus
