The bill of the Ministry of Labor brings about drastic changes that will make it much more difficult to carry out a strike, once electronic voting is introduced and therefore a majority of those present will not be required to take a decision, but of all employees in any business.
Except for the strike, the labor bill brings other changes. Overtime will henceforth be "paid" not necessarily with money but with breaks or less work, something that changes what we knew until today.
As is well known in many strikes they were based on artificial majorities. From now on, provided that plan takes on flesh and blood and becomes state law, the actual majority of employees should make the decision.
In the same bill there will be other interventions in the trade union law in order to streamline the system and the real representation of the employees.
But the changes do not stop at the trade union law, but extend to the whole working landscape. The bill of the Ministry of Labor presented yesterday (29.10.2020) the Minister of Labor, Giannis Vroutsis, in the Cabinet, includes among others, the introduction of an electronic work card, new overtime framework, changes in trade union law and greater flexibility in place and time of work.
- Businesses are given the opportunity to employ employees for up to ten hours a day without paying overtime, but to compensate them with part-time or break. Alongside, the bill provides for an increase in the hours of legal overtime, while expanding the list of companies for which it allows Sunday work. In another attempt to combat "black labor", An electronic work card is introduced for the OnLine monitoring of the real working hours of the employees.
- A maternity leave is introduced to the father 14 working days and an additional 6 months of parental leave until the child is done 8 years for all fathers and those mothers who do not already receive the 6-month maternity protection benefit. From the 6 months, the 2 the first are paid by OAED with the minimum legislated salary.
- also, a care permit for a helpless parent is introduced, child, brother, spouse or partner: 5 working annually.
