Towards the end - mainly for the GEL candidates- This year's test of the Panhellenic exams is coming.
According to the program of the Panhellenic Games, the candidates from GEL tomorrow, Tuesday, compete in History (OP of Humanities), Physics (OP of Positive Studies and OP of Health Studies) and Economy (Economics and Informatics Studies).
On Wednesday, the candidates from EPAL "give" Hygiene, Computer Programming, Principles of Organization and Management, Maritime Law-International Regulations in Shipping-Applications and History of Contemporary Art.
It is reminded that one of the big changes in this year's Panhellenic Games is the possibility of completing the parallel computer.
Panhellenic: The role of the difficulty of the issues
So far, most of the issues that "fell" in this year's Panhellenic exams have been characterized as "passable" by analysts.
According to the mathematician-career counselor Stratos Stratigakis, in a recent article of "Kathimerini" it was stressed that the Minister of Education asked the topics, by informal instruction to the Central Examination Committee, to enter topics more easily in order for the candidates to achieve the "10" more easily.
Mr.. Stratigakis, in the same article in "Naftemporiki", emphasizes that the reason for this informal directive is the peculiarity of this year, but also last year (when they were in the 2nd Lyceum), which influenced the candidates, as a result they are not properly prepared for the vast majority. "This means that even with easier issues we do not know how they will respond. If, that is,, will write better than last year's candidates or not ", notes.
The first estimates for the Minimum Admission Base
The question, Mr. continues. Stratigakis, "Is how much the candidates' performance can affect the Minimum Admission Base (ΕΒΕ), to know what to expect. The performance of the candidates of the 4th field is always the lowest, so we take these as a guide to see how much the EBE can fluctuate. In the table we see the averages in each course in the last 5 years. Before 2016 we had another input system, with 6 examined courses. We see that the average of the candidates in Mathematics is from 5,79 to 6,6. Beyond the tragic event, we see in the 6th column that the Average of 4 course ranges from 9,81 to 10,92, resulting in multiplied by 0,8 to determine the smallest possible EBE. The candidates who will have an average in the courses below the grade we see in the last column will be left out of the universities ", says.
According to Mr.. Stratigaki, 'The minimum limit is from 7,85 to 8,74 in six years. There is not much difference from year to year, that is,. Until 0,9. So if the subjects are easier than last year in all the courses and if the candidates write better than usual, then the minimum for the candidate to be able to submit a computer will be close to 8,74, while if we have a difficult year the minimum is set to 7,85. These are the margins of change of the minimum; approx 0,9. This is not a big difference, therefore we do not expect any significant change in the import minimum ".
Better performance leads to βάση higher base
Stratos Stratigakis states that "if the 2020 candidates had written average 8 in Math, which constitute the thorn in the 4th field, then the minimum limit would be set to 8,15 instead 7,86. Verified, so, that the Minimum Admission Base is independent of the difficulty or ease of the subjects, exactly as designed. This means that if the candidates write better then they will meet a higher base and will be left out of the university again ".
Then why did the Ministry of Education give the informal directive to make matters easier than in previous years?, something that was confirmed by the subjects of Mathematics;
"We assume that it was done so that the candidates would not see very low grades, that would throw them morale. In practice it will have no effect. In fact, the Minimum Admission Base of each section is expected to be announced at the same time as the scores, so any relief of the candidates with the best scores will evaporate from the highest EBE of the departments that will not allow them to declare the departments in which they do not exceed the EBE. All that remains to be assumed is that the Ministry of Education recognizes that the preparation of candidates this year is less than in previous years., due to the pandemic, which also objectively affected the preparation of the candidates, but also psychologically, after their psychological balance was disturbed by the inclusion ", is the answer given by Mr.. Stratigakis.
The rate change scenario
Concluding, the experienced analyst emphasizes:
"If the Ministry of Education really wanted to help children, it would change the minimum rate from 0,8 in 0,65, as he had originally suggested. The legal possibility exists since the range of the rate is determined every year by Ministerial Decision and, therefore, may change every year, as well as the coefficients set by the departments. It could set the minimum rate this year 0,65, due to the state of emergency, and time to come back 0,8. Because what will leave one in three candidates outside the University is not the Minimum Admission Base. It is the minimum rate 0,8, used to identify it, which means that the candidate must write at least 80% of the average of all candidates to be admitted to a school.
»The Minimum Input Base is variable, according to the wishes of the Ministry of Education. It can be high or low, depending on his decisions. The main argument for its admission to the Panhellenic Examinations was not to admit students with 2 and with 3, but now we see that they will not be introduced in the first 3 Scientific Fields with less than 9,2 and in the 4th Field with less than 8, something different from the argument of the Ministry of Education ".
