Negative parents who do not send their children to school are threatened with imprisonment for up to two years. The amendment was tabled by the Ministry of Education.
With an amendment submitted to a draft Law of the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Education tries to put an end to the phenomenon of negative parents not sending their children to school because they disagree with the measures against the coronavirus.
Cases throughout Greece are not few and the government was forced to intervene by threatening the negative parents even with imprisonment.
The amendment specifically mentions: "Attendance is compulsory kindergarten, elementary school and high school if a student is older than that. Anyone who has actual custody of a minor and fails to register his or her student supervision is punishable by up to (2) and a fine ".
