One of the measures under consideration is to change the validity of the rapid tests and in particular to make them last 24 and no 48 hours.
In an effort to stem the pandemic, especially after the appearance of the Omicron Mutation which is highly contagious, new measures especially for the unvaccinated seem to be falling on the table.
One of these measures also concerns the rapid tests which according to what have fallen on the table are expected to increase from two that are currently to three for the unvaccinated or the reduction of their power from 48 hours that are today at 24.
Despite persistent government denials, scenarios about specific measures persist and the latter want the country to be faced with three new interventions due to the new mutation, of Omicron, which is still unknown and seems threatening.
These measures are:
- Increase of rapid tests for unvaccinated to three, of two that are today, and / or its 24-hour power and not 48-hour.
- Universal use of mask indoors and outdoors for the entire population.
- Complete exclusion of the unvaccinated from the outdoor dining and entertainment areas, even if they have a negative rapid test.
- Double mask in MMM
No to lockdown, says the Government
At a time when scenarios and voices are calling for new measures, with the background and appearance of the Omicron mutation, the government rules out lockdown and measures for vaccinated citizens.
The government spokesman, Giannis Oikonomou, was the last - from government officials - who stressed that the attitude of the government remains as it is and weight is given to: strengthening the NSS, acceleration of vaccinations but implementation of existing measures.
"I repeat, we will not go into lockdown, we do everything, what is possible "he noted.
"The country will not close.
We are not thinking of measures that may restrict vaccinated people. No meters for small, medium and large lockdown "he added, while he did not answer - despite the persistent questions - whether there are other measures in the "quiver" that will be implemented later.
"Maybe" in meters by Georgiadis
Minister of Development and Investment Adonis Georgiadis, however, left "room" for the imposition of new measures, stating that there will be decisions depending on the course of the pandemic.
Him too, Nevertheless, ruled out the possibility of lockdown and market closure, especially during the holiday season. "There is no case for the market to close at Christmas," he clarified to SKAI.
On the table is any measure not related to vaccinated said, but clarified that at this stage there are no thoughts of imposing measures.
The president of EINAP, Matina Pagoni, was openly in favor of increasing rapid tests and returning the mask everywhere, but also reintroduced its proposal for a test for the entry of consumers in supermarkets.
Alongside, the director of B.’ ICU of Papanikolaou Hospital, Nikos Kapravelos, asked only those who have a negative rapid test to board the MMM, but also closing the schools for a week in order to put a "brake" on the dispersion.
