The Fur Center of Western Macedonia was visited on Saturday 19 June 2021 the Secretary of the Political Committee of the New Democracy Mr.. Stergiou George, accompanied by the General Organizational Coordinator of N.D.. in Western Macedonia Mr.. Adam Stergio, the Chairman of the Administrative Committee of the Electoral District of Kastoria of N.D.. K. Mrs. Natsiou Maria, the Thematic Catering Coordinator – Leisure and Responsible Tourism Sector of D.E.P.. Kastoria of N.D.. K. Notis Joseph, the President of the Municipal Local Committee N.D.. Kastorias Mr.. Boravo Nikolaos and the politician of N.D.. K. Tsiflikioti Vasileio.
Mr. Stergiou was welcomed by the President of the Hellenic Fur Federation and President of the Association of Furriers of Kastoria "The Prophet Elias" and. Tsoukas Apostolos.
Subsequently, A meeting was held in which the Vice President of E.O.G.. K. Itzhak Kohen, o Vice President of S.G.K.. K. Giatas Faidon, ο Πρόεδρος του Πανελληνίου Συνδέσμου Εκτροφέων Γουνοφόρων Ζώων κ. Michalopoulos Anastasios, ο Ταμίας του Πανελληνίου Συνδέσμου Εκτροφέων Γουνοφόρων Ζώων κ. Snow Constantine, the President of the Association of Fur-Leather-Traditional and Tourist Items Retailers and. Nikolakopoulos Panagiotis and the Scientific Associate of E.O.G.. – Σ.Γ.Κ. Mrs. Christina Evangelou.
During the meeting the furriers focused on issues that concern the industry, among which are:
- The establishment of an Auction House in P.E.. Of Kastoria.
- The inclusion of the fur sector in the affected KAD by the end of the year.
- The use of the Fur Center of Western Macedonia for exhibitions.
- The implementation of the proclamation of t. Minister of the Ministry of Regional Development. Voridi M.. to strengthen the Fur Animal Breeders industry.
- The creation and implementation of programs to create jobs in the fur industry.
- The creation and implementation of programs for the upgrading and modernization of farm facilities.
Mr.. Tsoukas informed Mr.. Stergiou for the good cooperation of the fur bodies with the local MPs, while calling for further strengthening of the industry, who has irreparably hurt the latter 15 months due to health crisis : "Because of the coronavirus pandemic, no live exhibitions and auctions have been held for more than a year. The fur industry is 100% export sector and the health crisis has operated and continues to operate as a deterrent. Together the fur carriers make every effort in order, not just to keep the fur industry alive, but also to develop it. Of course in all this effort, we also need the contribution of the Central State ".
