Without changing anything in particular, regarding the assessments made by the Management of the Foundation, University of Western Macedonia faced the official announcement for the definition of the Minimum Admission Base. The range announced by the Ministry of Education ranges from 0,8 to 1,2 and Minimum Admission Base will be derived from the average performance of the candidates in each of the four scientific fields. Then each University Department will be able to adjust the average by reducing it by 0,8 or increasing it to 1,2.
That is, if the average performance in the 1st scientific field is 10, then the Departments that are included in this field (philologies, legal etc.) will be able to define the EBE from 8 to 12. also, EBE defines both the special courses and the practical tests. For it the range can range from 0,7 to 1,10.
The Rector of the University of Western Macedonia, Theodoros Theodoulidis, had presented on 18 January at the Municipal Council of Kozani, the situation that will prevail with the definition of EBA, based on information then circulated by the Ministry of Education, estimating that the loss will reach up to 58% of the student population while the price will be heavy for parts of Kozani and Grevena.
The specific assessment was made exactly with the numbers presented yesterday by the Ministry of Education and now the University of Western Macedonia is waiting for the final decision of the political leadership regarding the commitment of the increase of admissions in the Regional Institutions compared to the central ones.. It seems that such a decision will be made, without anyone being able to refer to numbers at the moment, while a key parameter of this announcement will be the context of student transfers.
The University of Western Macedonia in the last year, where student transfers could be based on the argument of financial problems, had no loss over it 1/8 of its total strength at a time when the previous academic year lost το students ¼ from transfers.
