Resolution on the maintenance of the Interreg Service in Thessaloniki.
Dear Mr.. Minister,
The draft NSRF Law 2021 – 2027 released on 15/11/2021 provides for the abolition of the existing Special Service for the Management of European Territorial Cooperation Programs INTERREG in Thessaloniki, after the end of the period 2014-2020.
- during three INTERREG Program Periods to date (2000 – 2006, 2007 – 2013 and 2014 – 2020) this department has demonstrated a successful management and representation of the country for a variety of Programs, which have a significant positive contribution to their implementation areas, to the citizens of these areas and in Greece in general,
- the section is an important pillar of prestige, extroversion and cooperation of local actors and authorities with each other and with the outside world that contributes to regional, economic, social and spatial development of Northern Greece, as an eligible area of programs,
- INTERREG Service is the only decentralized Public Service in Thessaloniki that is an ever-increasing added value in Northern Greece,
- the INTERREG programs, as cross-border - transnational, are addressed to the majority of bodies located near the northern borders of the country and therefore the operation of the department in Thessaloniki is necessary for reasons of proximity and easy access of the bodies to it.,
We express our opposition to the abolition of the Service, we deliver this resolution to you for its maintenance and please put into practice the integrated and balanced regional development you seek as a government.
