The Progressive Association of Kozani completes its summer screenings with the postponed, due to weather, a tribute to perhaps the greatest comedy duet in cinema, their Laurel and Hardy γνωστούς στην Ελλάδα ως Thick and Lignous.
So this Wednesday 15 September 2021, I will enjoy two of their great creations. Their Oscar-winning short film "The music box" (The Music Box, 1932) and perhaps the best feature film "The Sons of the Desert » (Sons of the Desert, 1933).
At the first, the "music Box», directed by James Parrot, the transport company set up by Hondros and Lignos undertakes to transport a piano to the residence of Professor Von Schwarzenhofen. Problems start from the moment they are faced with… the steps of a large staircase. The film won a special Oscar for short film. Many consider it to be the masterpiece of the two comedians.
In the second «The sons of the desert», to be able to go secretly to Chicago with Stan and attend the annual Desert Sons fraternity conference, Ollie pretends to be sick and calls a doctor (veterinarian) to write him a sick trip to Hawaii. Decorated with necklaces of flowers and playing ukulele, they return and are informed that the ship on which they were supposed to be traveling has sunk. Although they ended up telling their wives that they managed to get back by doing a "stop ship", they are not convinced as they have already watched a documentary in the cinema about the above conference.. With protagonists… who else;
Directed by William Seiter and co-starring: Charlie Chase, May Bush and Dorothy Christy
The 2012, the film was considered “cultural, historically or aesthetically significant "by the Library of Congress of the United States and selected for preservation in the National Film Register.
