A colorful graffiti of the top jumper Miltos Tentoglou now adorns the Municipal Sports Center of Grevena as part of a series of actions launched by the Municipal Authority, the Deputy Mayor of Culture, Education & Of Sports Dimitris Bolis and the president of the Center of Social Solidarity and Sports of the Municipality of Grevena Konstantinos Sioulas for the aesthetic upgrade of the Stadium of our city.
The iconography of the renowned and emblematic Champion of Grevena, who is especially beloved in our local community because he is distinguished for his ethos and hard work, is at the end of 100 meters of the track and is visible from quite a distance while it is immediately noticeable with the entry of athletes and visitors to the tartan area.
The graffiti of the "gold" and "flying" athlete was created by our fellow artist Lazaros Gridas, who framed his central performance with accompanying thematic works that connect the past with the present. A modern runner at the start of the race, a tireless altar triple just before the sandpit and the ancient Greek discus thrower of classical times, have been imprinted on the walls and surfaces of storage buildings of GDR. This multidimensional painting composition, concludes with the five colored interlocking cycles of the Olympic Games which is one of the most recognizable symbols in the world.
It is worth mentioning that this artistic intervention, which stands out mainly for the sense of movement and speed it emits, took place in the month of July of this year and has already given identity and dynamics to a part of the GDR that for years was hazy and gray.
Therefore, the role of the project here is twofold, as on the one hand it offers images with pulse and intensity that are relevant to the history of the track over time and on the other hand it honors, in his own way, our Miltos Tentoglou and his successful career that fills with optimism and pride all his associates.
