The Municipality of Kozani having as priority the equal access of all citizens to its services, places particular emphasis on their accessibility by people with disabilities, utilizing new technologies.
In this direction, the municipal authority in cooperation with the company Bevica, ensured the use of the iris application for the services housed in the City Hall, as well as an additional right of use which donates to Mamatsio General Hospital of Kozani.
The application iris developed 2017 in collaboration with the National Foundation for the Deaf and aims at remote connection and communication of users via image & real-time audio and specifically to support deaf and hard of hearing people all over Greece.
Through the application, the user has the ability to receive direct interpretation from and to the sign language and lip reading, without requiring the physical presence of the interpreter at the service point. Interpretation is done remotely via direct connection to the EIK, in a space specially designed for this purpose. The Service is provided free of charge by the National Deaf Foundation 24 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
With this service, deaf and hard of hearing citizens via tablets installed at Kozani City Hall, as well as the city hospital, will be able to use the service for free.
The Municipality of Kozani expresses its warm thanks to Bevica for the excellent cooperation. The aim of this initiative is the equal and unrestricted access of all to the services of the Municipality, as well as the support of Mamatsio Hospital.
