The Director of the Lignite Center of Western Macedonia received in his office at the Headquarters of LKDM, Antonios Nikou, the President of TEE / TDM Nikolaos Sylliris and the Vice President of the Department, Evangelia Bagavou, in the context of the contacts they make as the new administration of the TEE / TDM, in order to be informed about the developments around the de-lignification and about the role of PPC SA the next day.
The Director Mr. Nikos, pointed out first of all the need to use lignite in electricity generation in times of high demand, as it was last winter, but also in the current heatwave, where already from Monday 25/07 the units have been put into operation 3 and 4, which will remain in operation for as long as required, to support the system.
The representatives of the TEE / TDM raised the issue of the operation of the Kozani District Heating and the concern that exists in a large portion of the local community for its viability, but also of Ptolemaida, while issues were also raised about the future of PPC employees, as well as for the restoration of the soils and for the areas that PPC intends to maintain, for the possibility of exploiting large reserves of lignite in other uses (e.g, crop enhancer etc.), για τα σχέδια της εταιρείας στην περιοχή την επόμενη μέρα και για την προοπτική της εγκατάστασης μονάδας υδρογόνου.
