With his Question to the Minister of Finance Christos Staikouras, the MP Stathis Konstantinidis requests that an initiative be taken for the settlement of the old and new overdue debts of the taxpayers to the State, in over 60 doses, because of the successive crises that have burdened the obliged citizens.
The content of his Parliamentary Question is as follows:
To the Minister of Finance, Mr. Christos Staikouras
Theme: "The settlement of the old and new overdue debts of the taxpayers to the State, in over 60 doses, would be mutually beneficial, both for the debtors and for the state"
Dear Minister,
from 2015 until 2019 the Greek taxpayer suffered an unprecedented tax raid, with the result that many natural and legal persons have run out of liquidity and are unable to repay tax, their insurance and banking obligations.
Since the beginning of the term of the current government, we have implemented brave and far-reaching reliefs aimed at reducing the liabilities and increasing the disposable income of our fellow citizens. And they succeeded!
Nevertheless, subsequent crises, because of the pandemic and Russia's invasion of Ukraine, they gnawed at the positive effect that weight reduction had.
The combination of supports for all activities and our most vulnerable fellow citizens, in order to stand up in the health and energy crisis, and the implementation of development policies that boosted the Greek economy, they created auspicious prospects for our country, against the adverse global environment.
Our concern is that economic growth spreads to all and that our society moves forward coherently. However, the burdens accumulated for the above reasons, they do not allow some of our fellow citizens to become shareholders of this perspective, since the cost of inflation leads to their inability to meet adjusted or new debts to the State.
According to the above, a new legislative provision for the settlement of overdue debts, old and new, of taxpayers to the State, would be mutually beneficial, and for the debtors, that could meet their reduced monthly obligations, and for the state, which would increase the collectability of his claims.
For those reasons, I am asking you, Mr. Minister, if you intend by a new arrangement to enable our fellow citizens to settle and repay their old and new arrears in one period 60 months or more, as long as the good performance and prospects of the Greek economy allow it.

Efstathios Konstantinidis,
