The Ephorate of Antiquities of Kozani participates again this year in the celebration of the European Days of Cultural Heritage (ΕΗΠΚ) 2021, which this year are dedicated to the diverse and accessible cultural heritage, with a common theme "Heritage open to all!» (Heritage: AllInclusive). [See the link https://www.europeanheritagedays.com/Shared-Theme]. In parallel with the European common theme, our country, on the occasion of their anniversary 200 years since the Greek Revolution 1821, dedicates this year's European Days of Cultural Heritage to the physiognomy and work of Ioannis Kapodistrias.
In this context, the Ephorate of Antiquities of Kozani organizes the educational action "Beyond the" border "of Kapodistrias" to be held on Saturday, 25 September 2021 and time 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Agios Nikanoras Eratyra and on Sunday, 26 September 2021 and time 10:30 a.m. at the Argyriadis Mansion (Malioga). This educational activity includes a guided tour by an archaeologist and a small treasure hunt and is addressed mainly to primary school students., Gymnasium and Lyceum, without, of course, excluding adult visitors.
The aim of the action is for students to discover unknown aspects of local history that occur in parallel with the Greek Revolution and the founding of the new Greek state.. Students will learn about the revolutionary ideas and renewal trends that prevailed at that time in Western Macedonia, a space beyond the HIV-positive line, "The border", that the first Governor of Greece, Ioannis Kapodistrias, had set for the borders of the new Greek state.
The Ephorate of Antiquities of Kozani chose to place this educational activity in two monuments of particular importance for the artistic trends that prevailed during the Greek Revolution in the region of Voio and Macedonia in general: the Church of Agios Nikanoras in Eratyra, built the 1816 and is decorated with his pictures and murals 1825, and the mansion Malioga - Argyriadis in the Chora district of Siatista, built the 1759 and bears its mural decoration 1844.
The Church of Agios Nikanoras in Eratyra, painted by hagiographers from Eratyra itself, is a typical example of the renewal trends of the word painting of Western Macedonia that are morphologically cut off from the post-Byzantine tradition and are more in line with Western trends, but always maintaining the same religious theme, as it had been shaped since the late Byzantine era.
The frescoes of the Argyriadis mansion (Malioga) in Siatista they tend more towards a popular performance in terms of their style, their themes, however, are strikingly eclectic. The subject matter of the painting includes views of European cities and world maps to foreign leaders and the military, as well as a rare mural of Otto in Macedonia., of the first king of Greece. The painting of the mansion is characteristic of the ideological, political and artistic trends prevailing in Macedonia before and after the Greek revolution.
Those interested in participating in the action can reserve their place (each tour group may consist of 8 individuals) sending email to [email protected]l.com noting their name, their age(one is students) and for which of the two days they are interested in taking part. Greece participates in the celebration of the European Days of Cultural Heritage (ΕΗΠΚ) from 1996. The general coordinator of the program is the Council of Europe, while its main goal is to improve citizens' access to elements of their cultural heritage, material and immaterial, as well as raising their awareness of these issues. The aim of the program is to strengthen intercultural dialogue and cross-border cooperation.
The national coordinator of the program is the Directorate of Archaeological Museums, Exhibitions and Educational Programs of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, which has formed a specific stigma of celebration: subject matter changing every two years, emphasis on the young audience, high quality information provided, familiarization of the public with the work of the Archaeological Service, use of new technologies and more.
