At 4-6 The K1 Youth League World Cup was held in Limassol, Cyprus in June under the auspices of the World Karate Federation (WKF).
Christos Tzilias, originally from Mikrokastro, Voio, competed in the cadet male category at -52kg. A very difficult category with the most entries. They took part in this championship 716 athletes from 37 Countries.
The success is considered huge since due to a hard lockdown the preparation of the athletes was limited and they were in inactive 18 months!!!
In a statement, the athlete said: I am very happy with my Golden Success because during a very difficult season I managed to stand out among many and remarkable opponents. The hard lockdown we all experienced and the inactivity of the game 18 months in our country worked negatively. However, I did not put it down. With the help of my coach Costas Papadopoulos who is 4 times world karate champion I managed to cope with all these adversities and win first place in a very competitive championship. I want from the bottom of my heart to thank my teammates who were there when I needed them and my parents for their full support in both the easy and the difficult. From now on the demands increase and I will continue with the same zeal to stay focused on my goal.
