He presented the directions of the Just Transition program on Thursday 27 January 2023, the Deputy Minister of Development & Nikos Papathanasis of Investments at the Information Event for the Just Developmental Transition in the Region of Western Macedonia.
The presentation was attended by the commander of the Special Service for Just Developmental Transition, Mr. Pelopidas Kalliris, the General Secretary of Public Investments and NSRF, K. Dimitris Skalkos, the Head of the delegation of the General Directorate for Regional Development of the European Commission, Mr. Carsten Rasmussen , the Regional Governor of Western Macedonia, K. George Kasapidis, agencies and representatives of the local community.
At the event, the training course of the DAM Programs at the European level was presented, the DAM Program 2021-2027 and the course of its implementation in our country, as well as other available financing possibilities for the just transition. also, the land restoration process in the lignite fields and the formation of the Territorial Committees were presented, in accordance with the formed partnership of the Territorial Plans & of the DAM Program.

More than half of the funds will support entrepreneurship through financing existing and new businesses, business infrastructure and stronger links between research and innovation enterprises.
Another large part of the funds will strengthen human resources and workforce skills in the affected areas (skill acquisition, skill upgrade, requalification) and will promote employment. TDM support is also aimed at the energy transition, land use adaptation and the circular economy (energy upgrades, strengthening self-production through energy communities, renewable energy sources, electrification and energy storage systems).
A percentage 63% from 1,6 billion euros for all of Greece, which corresponds to 1,026 billion euros, will be distributed in Western Macedonia.
Specifically:
• 544,120 million will be for the Strengthening and Promotion of Entrepreneurship and in Existing Businesses,
• 226,857 million for Labor Transition and Human Capital Empowerment,
• 152,713 million for the Energy Transition and Climate Neutrality,
• 46 million for Land Use Adjustment and the Circular Economy,
• 16 million for Integrated Small-Scale Interventions and Smart Communities
• 40,998 million for Technical Assistance.
Beyond the co-financed resources of the DAM Program, the support of our Region is extended to the De-Lignitization Program that runs through the Green Fund as well as to the activation of our country's first investment plan within the framework of the Pillar 3 of the Just Transition Mechanism, about height 80 from. euro.
