The scenarios studied by the Ministry of Education for the opening of schools were developed by the Secretary General of the Ministry, Anastasia Gika, on the ERT Connections show.
"Of course the schools will open on 07/09. It is very important that children follow their normal schedule ", stressed Ms.. Gika. "After all, teachers start on September 1st 2020 to prepare everything, what is needed for schools to be able to accommodate our children. We are more informed and better prepared this time ".
The two scenarios for going back to school
As the Prime Minister stated yesterday, "Our intention is with all security measures, which will be suggested to us by the experts, schools to open normally in September and children to return to class ".
"The word regularity now means the new regularity", explains G.G.. of the Ministry of Education. "We have two main scenarios. One is that we go to school normally, with very strict distancing measures and possibly mandatory masks for everyone. We keep our distance, we do not use common things, we do not share erasers, stroke, balls…
"Everything is still under discussion, because every day things change. We will make the final decisions about two weeks before the children go to school. We will look at the epidemiological data and decide. Of course, we do not decide for ourselves.
The second scenario is what we have experienced, the rotation. If needed, this will happen too… We are awake, on hand, we discuss each scenario. Besides, we have implemented with great success the implementation of distance education… The all-day will be open in any case and will operate normally from the 7 September.
… Our children are used to distancing themselves. It was very important that the schools opened, because our children learned the same, and took lessons with the rest of the family ".
