In the beautiful river Venetiko and more specifically in the historic stone bridge of Spanos of the Municipality of Grevena was found on Wednesday morning 4 November 2020 the Mayor of Grevena Mr. George Dastamanis, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor of Technical Works Mr. Christos Trigonis and the Municipal Councilor Mr. Konstantinos Sioulas, in order to see up close the restoration works that are in progress by the Service of Modern Monuments and Technical Works of Epirus, Northern Ionian and Western Macedonia of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
particularly, this unique and remarkable architectural landmark 19ου century, of 85 meters of all five arcs, is the largest surviving stone bridge in Western Macedonia while at the same time it is built in a mountainous area of the Municipality of unparalleled beauty, between the villages of Kosmati and Kipoureio and just 15 kilometers away from the city of Grevena.
According to Mr. Dastamanis, the protection and promotion of our natural and cultural heritage in combination with the tourist promotion of Grevena are central development priorities of the Municipal Authority as through the specific actions and actions important monuments are preserved, such as stone bridges, that testify to our rich local history while at the same time becoming fully accessible and very safe for citizens and visitors.
It is noted that the project, budget 450.000 euro, has an estimated completion time in November 2022 and is part of the Operational Program of the Region of Western Macedonia 2014-2020 with the co-financing of Greece and the European Union.
